​Our Programme

We provide a flexible programme to meet the needs of our children and to lay down the foundation for future learning. Our experienced teachers work alongside our children and in collaboration with the whånau to ensure our children are getting the best possible early childhood education. Our teaching team assess, plan and evaluate our programme to ensure we are delivering a curriculum that meets the needs of our children.

In our preschool, the children work co-operately in a mixed age setting (2 - 6 years) , where we foster values of indepedence, curiosity, respect, and a love of learning. In our nursery (0 - 2.5 years), our teachers provide an environment that is nurturing, stimulating, and encourages our little ones to explore the world around them. We believe that play is central to all children's learning and development and we provide opportunities for both spontaneous and structured activities in our programme.

Our curriculum is guided by the principles and strands of the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum - Te Whåriki.

Each of our children has a learning portfolio which is documentation of their learning journey here at Halswell Learning Tree. These learning portfolios include contributions from children, teachers, and parents.
